How to Choose the Right Car Travel Seat

Is it a legal requirement to restrain my dog in the car in Australia?
Australian road rules prohibit driving with an animal on your lap, and fines can apply if a pet is distracting you or travelling unsafely. Organisations like the RSPCA recommend that dogs are always suitably restrained when travelling. A car seat with a harness tether helps keep your dog in one place and stops them climbing into the front.
Is a dog car seat the same as a crash-tested restraint?
No. Our car seat is designed to keep your dog comfortable, contained and less distracting while you drive. It is not marketed as a crash-tested restraint. For the highest level of crash protection, look for a harness or crate that has been independently crash-tested.
Should my dog sit in the front or back seat?
The back seat is the safest place for your dog. Front airbags deploy with enough force to seriously injure a dog, and a dog in the front is more likely to distract the driver.
Should I attach the tether to a collar or a harness?
Always a harness. Clipping a car tether to a collar can put dangerous pressure on your dog's neck if you brake suddenly. Adjust the tether short enough that your dog can sit and lie down but can't jump out of the seat.
What size dog is the car seat suitable for?

Will it fit my car?
The seat uses an adjustable strap system that fits most sedans, hatchbacks and SUVs and installs in about two minutes. The anti-slip base helps keep it in place on leather and fabric seats.
How do I clean the car seat?
The covers are removable and machine washable, and the faux leather exterior wipes clean with a damp cloth. It's an easy fix after beach trips, muddy paws or the occasional bout of car sickness.
Is it comfortable in hot Australian summers?
The reversible cushion has a faux leather side for warmer days and a soft fabric side for winter. Run the air conditioning for your dog and never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes, as cars heat up dangerously fast.
Can a car seat help a dog that gets anxious or car sick?
A raised, enclosed seat helps many small dogs feel more secure and lets them see out the window, which can ease anxiety for some dogs. Start with short, positive trips and treats. If your dog is regularly car sick, talk to your vet.
