How much hay should my rabbit or guinea pig eat?
Hay should make up around 80% of their diet. Offer unlimited fresh hay every day, roughly a pile as big as your pet, plus fresh leafy greens and a small amount of pellets.
What's the difference between oaten hay and lucerne?
Oaten hay is higher in fibre and lower in calcium and protein than lucerne, which makes it ideal as an everyday hay for adult rabbits and guinea pigs. Lucerne is richer and is often given to growing, pregnant or underweight pets.
Is oaten hay okay for baby rabbits?
Young rabbits and guinea pigs can eat oaten hay, but they often benefit from some lucerne while they're growing. Ask your vet for advice on your pet's age and weight.
Do guinea pigs need anything else with hay?
Yes. Guinea pigs can't make their own vitamin C, so hay alone isn't enough. Give them fresh vitamin C-rich vegies daily and a quality guinea pig pellet.
Is it dusty?
It's selected as clean forage from Victorian farms. A little natural leaf and seed at the bottom of the box is normal; tip it out rather than feeding it if your pet is sensitive to dust.
How should I store it?
